A clean Christian mystery that could have been ripped from today’s headlines … Ironwood Hamilton, new captain of police in Tinyville VA, is put at odds with his regional police colleagues when a new and confrontational Black newspaper hits them all with a demand for public release of records about police brutality in Lofton County. With the help of one loyal lieutenant and a relative with a famous name and suitably dangerous temperament, Captain Hamilton must gather the clues to a plan for rogue police action that will eventuate in blood and fire! A complex and yet squeaky clean tale — the first in a series of clean Christian mysteries in Lofton County!
If there’s one thing that I have to mention about this book, is that there is such a degree of raw emotion that’s portrayed in this book. The characters that show this emotion are parallel to people in power that you may now or may depend on for your quality of life. Deeann Mathews brings up race issues, political issues, and power structures in a way that most people can relate to, and that’s not an easy thing to always do. This is a read I recommend for any and all readers!
