by Christian Espinosa
Cyberattack—an ominous word that strikes fear in the hearts of nearly everyone, especially business owners, CEOs, and executives. With cyberattacks resulting in often devastating results, it’s no wonder executives hire the best and brightest of the IT world for protection. But are you doing enough? Do you understand your risks? What if the brightest aren’t always the best choice for your company?
In The Smartest Person in the Room, Christian Espinosa shows you how to leverage your company’s smartest minds to your benefit and theirs. Learn from Christian’s own journey from white hat hacker to company CEO. He describes why a high IQ is a lost superpower when effective communication, true intelligence, and self-confidence are not embraced. With his seven-step methodology and stories from the field, Christian helps you develop your team’s technical minds so they become better humans and strong leaders who excel in every role. This book provides you with an enlightening perspective of how to turn your biggest unknown weakness into your strongest defense.
Christian Espinosa has been in the information technology carrier field for a long time, giving him enough knowledge to really delve into a topic that most people only know the surface about. The majority of people [hopefully] have an anti-virus on their computer and think mission accomplished. The true story is the anti-virus company, the company of whichever web browser you’re using, and the company that made your computer hardware spent an insurmountable about on money into cybersecurity, and continue to do so year over year. The reasons why are explained in depth in the novel, but not in a way to alarm you, but to truly go in depth about the reasons why cybersecurity is essential from an end user standpoint, an IT professional standpoint, and a company standpoint.
Another thing Espinosa expands upon in this novel is what it means to be an IT professional in the ever-growing world of information technology. There is a subset of knowledge that have to be in this career fields, as it is with all career fields, and this career field’s depth grows the fastest by far. Every day, there are new technologies being developed, and there are people out there waiting to hack into it. Not only do you want to keep current on technology, but computers from 2000’s are still in production, and you have to be well-versed in both the old and new to grow professionally.
This novel really resonated with me. Not because it’s written expertly and is a good read, but because this is crucial information that everyone should know.
